- Open muse.ai or the Muse app and sign in. Muse is currently available in the US and Canada.
- Describe one goal and the finished result you want. Start with a draft or analysis you can check.
- In Muse settings, connect only the apps needed for that task; review the access each connection requests.
- Review the output before asking Muse to take on an ongoing workflow. Muse asks before publishing, sending, or spending.

Which AI agent fits your workflow?
A quick comparison of Muse, ChatGPT dots, and Grok Bot, plus the first steps to make one useful.
Start here / The basics
What is an AI agent?
An AI agent is an AI assistant that can work toward a goal by carrying out a series of steps. It can decide what to do next, use the tools you give it access to, check the results, and adjust its approach. That might mean gathering information, reading files, and putting together a finished draft for you to review.
In a normal AI chat, you usually lead the process: ask a question, get a response, then give the next instruction. With an agent, you can describe the outcome and let it handle more of the steps in between. Some agents can also continue work between conversations or repeat a task on a schedule, depending on the product and your settings.
The line can overlap: a chat assistant may also use tools and complete several steps. The key difference is how much of the workflow you delegate. An agent can still make mistakes, so give it clear boundaries and review its work.
01 / Choose your agent
Choose the job first.
Pick one task you repeat every week. Give an agent a clear outcome, relevant sources, and a point where it should ask for your review.
| Agent | Good fit if… | What stands out | Try this first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Muse | You run a small business or spend a lot of time in Meta’s apps. | Simple messaging interface; connects to Instagram professional analytics, Facebook Pages, Meta ad accounts, and other business tools. | Ask it to review recent social performance and draft next week’s content ideas. |
| ChatGPT dots | Your projects, ideas, and context already live in ChatGPT. | An ongoing agent that uses your ChatGPT context and connected apps, and keeps working between conversations. | Give it ownership of a weekly content pipeline and ask for drafts to review. |
| Grok Bot | You want distinct agents for distinct roles. | Named Bots can work in parallel, coordinate, and build up context around each job. | Create one research Bot to find and brief five content ideas. |
02 / From sign-up to first result
Set up your first agent
Use the path for the agent you chose. Keep the first task small enough to review in one sitting.
- On desktop, open chatgpt.com/dots or the ChatGPT desktop app and follow onboarding. Access depends on plan and rollout.
- Name your dot and give it one clear project goal, useful context, and the output you want back.
- Connect the apps it needs and review permissions before widening access.
- Give it a review point: what it may do independently, and when it should return to you for a decision.
- Get Grok Bot from x.ai/bot and sign in with an eligible paid Cursor plan or linked SuperGrok plan.
- Create your first Bot. Give it a short name, one primary job, and a description of how it should work.
- Connect a supported app or sign in to a website when the Bot asks you to take over.
- Assign a task with an outcome, sources, constraints, deliverable, and review point. Add another Bot only when you have a distinct second role.
03 / Make it useful
Copy this first-task brief
Goal: [the result I want]. Use: [the files, apps, or sources]. Deliver: [a draft, list, report, or completed artifact] by [time]. Boundaries: Ask me before sending, publishing, purchasing, or changing anything external. Show your sources, flag uncertainty, and tell me what decision you need from me.
Make the details yours before you use it.
