Connect your accounts

Start with Instagram, as described in the reel. The same planning approach can be adapted to another connected network. The live demo uses TikTok for its analytics example.

1. Prepare Metricool

  1. Create an account at Metricool, or sign in.
  2. Select the correct Brand—the workspace that groups your social profiles. Open its connections area and choose Instagram.
  3. Use a Business or Creator Instagram account. Complete the official Instagram or Meta sign-in flow, select your profile, review the permissions, and confirm. For the fuller Meta feature set, link a Facebook Page and use a profile with the required Page access.
  4. Check that the intended handle appears as connected. Open Analytics to see what dates and post data are available.

2. Add Metricool to ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web. Open Apps and search for Metricool. Some current interfaces label the directory Plugins.
  2. Choose the official Metricool listing, select Connect or Install, and follow its sign-in flow.
  3. Review the requested access before granting it. Return to ChatGPT and select or mention Metricool in your conversation if needed.

Access check: Metricool documents this integration for all its plans, including Free, subject to plan limits. Your ChatGPT account must offer access to the relevant app. Check availability in your own account before buying a subscription.

3. Confirm the connection

01 / Connection check

Using Metricool, list the brands and connected social profiles available to this conversation. Identify the brand and Instagram handle I should use. Tell me which analytics metrics and date ranges you can actually retrieve. Do not create, edit, schedule, or publish anything. If access fails, report the error instead of guessing.

You are ready when: ChatGPT returns the expected brand and handle from Metricool. A generic description of Metricool does not verify a connection.

Find what already works

The weekly loop

Let your results guide the next batch.

  1. 01Audit

    Find patterns in actual posts.

  2. 02Ideate

    Choose seven useful angles.

  3. 03Create

    Draft, review, and make media.

  4. 04Schedule

    Approve and check the Planner.

↶ Review the results and repeat.

Choose one goal before ranking posts. Views help you study attention; saves and shares help you study usefulness. Use available conversion data if your goal is sales. A high-view post does not automatically produce more customers.

The reel’s starting prompt asks ChatGPT to review the last 30 days of Instagram posts and find what the best performers have in common. Use this expanded version to make the output easier to check.

02 / 30-day content audit

Using my available Metricool data, review my last 30 days of Instagram posts for [BRAND] / [HANDLE]. My primary goal is [GOAL].
First state the exact start and end dates, time zone, number of posts, and metrics available. If 30 days are unavailable, use the available period and label it.
Show the top 5 posts using the metric most relevant to my goal. Include post date, topic or caption excerpt, format, post link or ID, and the actual metric values. Keep missing values separate from zero. If you calculate a rate, show its formula and use the same denominator across the comparison.
Identify 3 patterns in their topics, hooks, formats, or calls to action. Separate observed facts from your hypotheses. Finish with 3 content experiments I can test next week. Do not schedule anything.

What to look for in the answer

  • Traceable winners: you can open or identify the actual posts.
  • A fair comparison: similar formats and the same metric definition.
  • Useful hypotheses: “step-by-step demos earned more saves” is testable. “The algorithm loves you” is not.

Use available post content to evaluate hooks. If ChatGPT cannot see the opening seconds or visuals, provide your script or describe them before asking for a creative diagnosis.

Turn insights into seven ideas

Keep working in the same conversation so your audit remains in context. Seven ideas are a menu: choose the ones you can produce well and fit them to your normal posting cadence.

03 / Seven content ideas

Turn the findings from the audit above into 7 content ideas for next week for [AUDIENCE] in [NICHE]. My goal is [GOAL].
For each idea, give: idea number, audience problem, specific topic, suggested format, opening hook, main takeaway, call to action, and the finding it builds on. Include a mix of proven patterns and clearly labeled experiments. Avoid duplicate angles, invented performance claims, and promises of guaranteed results. Estimate production effort as low, medium, or high. End by recommending the 3 strongest ideas and explaining your choices. Do not schedule anything.

Choose with three questions

  1. Does this solve a real problem for my audience?
  2. Can I show or explain the promised result honestly?
  3. Do I have the time and source material to make it this week?

Example only: if your own audit shows that short tutorials attract saves, you could test one beginner walkthrough and one common-mistake tutorial. That is a proposed experiment, not a result from your account.

Draft scripts and captions

Choose your favorite idea numbers before drafting. Give ChatGPT a short example of your own writing if you want a closer voice match.

04 / Production-ready drafts

Draft ideas [IDEA NUMBERS] from the list above for [AUDIENCE]. Use this voice: [VOICE NOTES OR A SHORT WRITING SAMPLE].
For each short video, write a 30–45 second spoken script with a strong opening, clear steps, and one call to action. Add a simple shot list or demo notes and suggested on-screen text. For a carousel instead, provide slide-by-slide copy.
Write a matching caption with a clear first line and one relevant call to action. Suggest only relevant hashtags. Mark every fact or product claim I need to verify. Do not invent my personal experience, testimonials, prices, or results. Leave placeholders for missing details. Give each draft a unique label. Do not schedule anything.

Review before recording

  • Read the script aloud. Remove lines you would never say.
  • Check each product feature, offer, date, link, and factual claim.
  • Make sure the visual demonstration supports the spoken promise.
  • Finish and export the actual image or video. A script and caption alone are not a finished Instagram post.

Label your approved assets clearly, such as 01-beginner-walkthrough.mp4, so a draft, caption, and final media file stay together.

Preview, schedule, verify

Give each approved post an exact date, local time, and time zone. Use a region such as America/Toronto rather than an ambiguous abbreviation. Check that your chosen times are still in the future.

Build a preview first

05 / Scheduling preview

Prepare a scheduling preview through Metricool for [BRAND] / [HANDLE]. Do not create, edit, schedule, or publish any posts yet.
Use only these approved drafts and final assets:
[POST LABEL | YYYY-MM-DD | HH:MM | TIME ZONE | FORMAT | EXACT CAPTION | FINAL MEDIA FILE OR ACCESSIBLE ASSET URL]
Show the destination account, full date, local time, time zone, caption, media, and publishing mode for each post. Check the existing calendar for possible duplicates or conflicts. Identify missing assets or unsupported settings. Tell me if a post will require a mobile notification or manual publishing step. Ask for any details that are necessary before proceeding. Do not claim that a preview is scheduled.

Attach or upload finished assets through a supported route. If the connector cannot use an attachment, add the media in Metricool’s Planner. A path on your computer is not automatically accessible to Metricool.

After approving the preview

06 / Schedule the approved posts

I approve only these previewed post labels: [APPROVED POST LABELS]. Schedule those posts through Metricool using the exact account, caption, final media, future date, local time, and time zone shown in the approved preview. Do not publish immediately, alter other posts, or create duplicates.
If any required detail or media is missing, stop and tell me what is needed. Report the actual tool result for each post, including its ID, scheduled date and time, time zone, and status. Include a Planner link if available. Distinguish success, failure, and posts that still require action. Do not claim success without a successful tool response.

Check the Planner yourself

Open Metricool’s Planner and verify the account, date, time zone, caption, media, and post status. The native ChatGPT integration may not return a direct post link; navigate to the Planner manually if needed. A draft, a preview, and a successfully scheduled post are different states.

If scheduling is unavailable: use the same approved content in Metricool’s Planner, attach the final media, select the date and time, and verify the saved post there.

Your repeatable weekly routine

07 / Weekly review

Using available Metricool data for [BRAND] / [HANDLE], compare the most recent completed 7-day period with the preceding 7 days. State exact dates, time zone, post counts, available metrics, and any data limitations. Compare like-for-like metrics and flag posts that have had less time to accumulate results.
For my goal of [GOAL], explain what improved, what weakened, and which findings are still uncertain. Give me 3 practical changes to test next week. Do not present a correlation as proof of cause. Do not schedule or publish anything.

Checkboxes are a convenience for this reading session. Download the CSV to keep a planning file; this HTML does not save your work to an account or connect to your social profiles.

Fallback: use an analytics export

If live access is unavailable, export your post analytics from Metricool and attach the file in ChatGPT. Include captions or scripts if you want feedback on content patterns.

08 / Analyze an export

Analyze only the Metricool analytics file I attached for [HANDLE]. My goal is [GOAL]. First identify its columns, date range, post count, and missing values. Rank the strongest posts using a suitable available metric and explain your method. Cite row numbers or post IDs, separate observations from hypotheses, and propose 7 follow-up ideas for [AUDIENCE]. Do not invent missing metrics. If a required field is absent, say what I should export or supply next. Do not schedule or publish anything.

Replace all bracketed fields before submitting a prompt. Never paste passwords or access tokens into the chat.
